Cannon Hill makes everything custom, by hand, and these incredible curved walnut bases are no exception. This design was chosen from a page of simple hand drawings done by Cannon HIll's Sam O'leary, and then it was converted into a CAD rendering for the client based on the size of their table. This curved base is made by making many dozens of strips of walnut, rolling glue between each strip, and curving them around a custom made form. Then all the curved pieces are cut to size, assembled, cut not he band saw for detail work, given top plates, and sanded, sanded, sanded. We can make bases like this in any variation and any size.
This table is made from 8/4 walnut which is the thicker of our two offerings. Walnut is really incredible. There is so much going on in the grain and yet it still feels classic and clean enough for any space. The table is 96" by 42" long. There is a cove detail around the perimeter of the top as well. We route the cove on the top and bottom edge for symmetry and it gives the table top a little more character with being fancy or over the top. It's simple and subtle, but elegant. Another nice thing about a cove detail in a thicker walnut table top, is that it softens the thickness of the top a little.
This table has a spray finish. It is sprayed with lacquer, and will have an commercial level of stain and water resistance.
