Unique Corner Legs and Steeply Beveled Skirt in South Dartmouth

This gorgeous white-washed oak table was unique and challenging build due to its sleek legs and uniquely beveled skirt. Were this table made from cheap "engineered wood" at one of those supposed "high end" furniture stores, then the construction would not be as difficult because fake, I mean "engineered" wood, doesn't move the way real wood does as it acclimates year round to the changes in seasons and ambient humidity. In a nutshell, the top wants to expand and contract along the width of the boards and may see upwards of a 3/16 inch fluctuation.

Reclaimed Oak Table on Cape Cod with Pedestal Bases

This reclaimed oak table now lives in a sunny kitchen overlooking a swimming pool in the town of Harwich Port. The sunlight brings out every but of character in the real reclaimed wood top. The client came to us thinking she wanted a walnut dining table. When she was able to come to our Seaport showroom she fell in love not only with the reclaimed oak, but also with the idea that we can make pedestal bases custom and by hand. We typically start with 3 or 4 hand drawn designs and let the client mix or match, or change them, in any way they like.

Extendable Walnut Table with Skirt and Square Legs in Newton

Classic! ... This walnut table is a classic design- tried and true. This is the can't-go-wrong walnut table design. This is the we-might-move-to-an-entirely-different-style-of-home walnut table design. This is a walnut table with a skirt and square leg assmebly- built to a custom size with the clearance of the room and the size of the family in mind. Clean, simple, sturdy, beautifully crafted, incredible grain pattern, subtle and honest finish.

Reclaimed Oak Top with Ebony Stain and Metal X Base

This table is dark, but not quite as dark as the photos make it out to look. The stain is called "Ebony" which is a dark, dark brown and the top coat is an oil-based-urethane which gives it a little more of a satin sheen. This is a fairly straightforward, custom "modern farmhouse" table set. This style is becoming increasingly popular (trust us, we know!). It's something about the combination of the old wood, with all it's incredible character, and the modern look of metal legs, that works really well to make this reclaimed oak table modern, but not tacky, and classic, but not boring.

Reclaimed Oak Kitchen Island-Attached Table in Charlestown

This reclaimed oak table is attached directly to the kitchen island in this newly renovated Charlestown condominium. The idea behind the design is that the table can remain shorter, so that it doesn't encroach upon the doorway entry to the condo, but that there is more room for seating. The table is attached to a ledger that sits invisible between the skirts and is fastened sturdily to the island.

Bastogne Walnut Coffee Table with Criss-Cross Base in Bay Village

Bastogne walnut is a hybrid of the California Claro and English walnut. These trees aren't cultivated, rather they occur naturally in the wild. They are rarely found in general, and very rarely seen on the East Coast. They grow to be very large. We've actually made a pretty magnificent 12' Bastogne walnut table previously to working on this disc cut "cookie" as it's called. The disc cut on this custom coffee table is approximately 31" around. The walnut cut came to us with some abnormality to the shape that we cut out and blended to make a more uniform shape for the coffee table top.

Live Edge Walnut Table from Tree in Client's Backyard in Chestnut Hill

This live edge walnut table started as a tree in the client's backyard in the Lars Anderson Park section of Chestnut Hill. The wood spent two years air drying at the mill. Typically fresh cut wood needs to air dry for one year per inch of thickness. When we were called, the walnut wood was stacked in their garage and we went to take a look and test the moisture content of the wood and allocate the material for the table top. The wood was in great shape.

Walnut Kitchen Prep Station and Storage Table

This walnut kitchen prep station was built after a collaborative design process that involved the client's measuring the height of their appliances. They have limited kitchen space, and for some of their heavy use items, they haven't had a great storage solution in their upper or lower cabinets. In addition they needed more prep space. When they first came to me they had a list of appliances to fit, they hoped for drawers, an 1.5" thick top, and a finish height of 36".

Walnut Extendable Round Table with Incredible Tapered Base

This extendable walnut table was the product of a lot of collaboration between the clients and Cannon Hill Woodworking. First we met in the showroom and began to hone in on a design. The clients were deciding between a pill, an oval, and a round table to start with, and the base type and placement of the base as it related to seating was very important. After many emails, the clients came to our workshop to finalize everything.

Six Foot Walnut Table with Tapered Legs and Extenders

This table is a quintessential look at the most popular table style right now. A well-built walnut table with no frills. Beautiful natural grain, clean lines, subtle taper to the legs, a medium thickness (1 1/4") top so as to be sturdy but not chunky. It's like farmhouse light. We love making tables like these. The walnut we source is local and we hand select each board after looking at both sides and walking on them. This allows our walnut tables to be flat for decades. It also allows us to pick beautiful boards for our clients.
